On Wednesday, 21st February 2018, we'll present Pride of Workmanship Awards to several worthy recipients. It will be an evening meeting in lieu of our usual breakfast. Several nominations have already been received, but if you have anyone in mind who deserves this award, simply contact Vocational Services Chair Richard Smith and provide him with details. |

What is LoVe Bites? LoVe Bites is an extremely successful school-based Domestic and Family Violence and Sexual Assault prevention program that evolved on the Mid North Coast of NSW. Led by the reference group LOVE BITES has been delivered to schools on the Gold Coast for almost 5 years. LOVE BITES promotes an integrated partnership approach to prevention and generates local ownership of the program. Local service providers facilitate the Love Bites program. Professionals such as sexual assault workers, domestic violence workers, youth workers and police can facilitate the program. The LOVE BITES program consists of two interactive education workshops on Domestic and Family Violence and Sexual Assault followed by creative workshops that consolidate the information from then morning. |

Dr Dainis Sirovs is our esteemed member Al Sirov's nephew. He is a surgeon, specializing in Traumatology. On a brief visit to our shores from his (and Al's) native Latvia, Dr Sirovs will present us with an outline of life "before and after" the Russian occupation ended in 1990. Since 2004 he is Chairman of the Board of SIA "Ogres District Hospital. |

This will serve as a "trial meeting" for a potential new venue. We'll meet at Freshwater Point Resort, Broadbeach. They'll put up a sumptuous buffet style breakfast - cost of $20.00 per person. Charles Thomasson will run a training style introduction to Social Media, in particular Instagram and Facebook, and how we can use this not just to communicate among each other, but also spread our message to potential members. |

Organized by the Rotary Club of Surfers Sunrise, this is a Multi-Club meeting with partners and friends it will be held at the Surfers Paradise RSL Club. So far, the Rotary Clubs of Burleigh Heads, Surfers Paradise, Nerang and Broadbeach as well as a number of individals have accepted our invitation to join. Also a wonderful opportunity to bring along a prospective member. All Rotary clubs are invited to join - the venue can cater for as many as 200 people. This coming Wednesday we'll meet again at the Surfers Paradise Surf Club on the Esplanade, Surfers Paradise, where we recently had the Lutzy Award presentation. Meeting assembly at 07:00 am for 07:15 start. Again a special occasion: our newly baked District Governor Terry Brown and his partner Carol will visit, to outline to us their vision for the coming 12 months. Please join us to give them a hearty Surfers Sunrise welcome!
Parking: regrettably, the free parking has not come through (yet), so street parking or Early Bird at the Paradise Centre, off Hanlan Street.
Regarding the meal: we have noted your comments in relation to the food from a couple of weeks ago. So, this time we'll have an 'All you can eat' buffet breakfast, much more sumptuous too: eggs poached, eggs scrambled, baked beans, bacon, potato gems, sausages, pancakes, toasts, cereals, fresh fruit and house made yoghurt.
