Andy Rajapakse shared a powerful presentation on leadership within Rotary and its global impact. He highlighted the many ways Rotarians can lead - from mentoring others to serving on district and international committees. Drawing on his own experience serving on the Reproductive, Maternal and Child Health Action Group (RMCH), Andy described a project that achieved a 20% reduction in maternal deaths and a 28% reduction in neonatal deaths over three years.
Through innovation and collaboration, the team launched a digital tracking system for expectant mothers, trained hundreds of health workers, and saw an 82% increase in mothers accessing medical care. The project’s success inspired a global alliance and a $5 million pledge to expand efforts. Andy concluded by encouraging members to embrace leadership opportunities, give generously to the Rotary Foundation, and continue creating lasting change worldwide.

President Jo gave thanks to all members for their ongoing support and participation. She reflected on the inspiring presentation by Rotary International President Elect Olayinka Babalola and shared highlights from hosting the breakfast, noting the strong reputation our club continues to build.
Jo encouraged everyone to attend upcoming district events to connect with other Rotarians and experience the broader impact of Rotary beyond local activities. She announced that the recent breakfast raised around $1,200 for the End Polio Now initiative.
Celebrating another milestone, Jo commended the Duck Race committee for their outstanding efforts, raising approximately $36,000 to support domestic violence initiatives.
Members were reminded of the Christmas celebration on December 7, where everyone will bring a dish to share.
Jo announced that Vicki Kersey will lead the club for 2026–2027, and thanked all members for making her role as president so rewarding.
Bruce Howlett has organised another morning tea meet-up with the homeless on November 19th. Tony Heading, Ross Smith and Roger Mussett have volunteered to attend with him and Dean Clifford.
We were also joined by PDG Mark Humphrey & Linda Humphrey from Rotary Inverloch and DG 9660 Evan Burrel. They told us their stories of their Rotary journey and it was a pleasure to have them at the meeting.

What an amazing weekend we had at the Zone 8 Conference in Coolangatta, Qld, from 31 October to 2 November 2025. It was great to see people connecting with old friends and meeting new ones.
We were able to share loads of new ideas – from our speakers, through breakouts and amongst ourselves in conversation. And there was a wonderful spirit of looking to the future and how we can grow our impact and presence in our communities.
