Meeting news

Bruce Howlett was presented with a well deserved Paul Harris Fellow for his contributions to the Rotary Foundation.

We also presented Zane with his Youth Exchange Blazer in readiness for his January departure. John Campbell talked about the weight of the blazer - not just physically, but in what it represents to the students, Rotary and Australia.

“The blazer may feel heavy in your hands, but once you put it on, it carries the weight of expectations, trust, and responsibility. You are no longer just yourself - you are a representative of your family, your country, and Rotary.”

4 Corners India Drive strives for HPV-free India

By Dr. Rita Kalra, Rotary Club of Chandigarh Midtown, Haryana, India, and a member of the Rotary Foundation Cadre of Technical Advisors

I still remember the morning of 26 July 2025, as if it were yesterday. Chandigarh was bright and buzzing, but for me, the excitement wasn’t just about the day — it was about the mission. As District 3080 coordinator for HPV vaccination under Project Aastha, I have one clear goal: to wipe out cervical cancer from our community. That day felt like one giant step closer to it.

Read about it here.

Rotary Down Under

The Rotary Club of Dapto welcomes para-athlete Lily Piccolo into its ranks.

The Rotary Club of Dapto, NSW, is proud to welcome para-athlete and motivational speaker Lily Piccolo as one of its newest members. Lily makes history as the first visually impaired person to be inducted into Rotary within District 9675 – an important milestone in advancing Rotary’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

A Shellharbour local, Lily has transformed personal adversity into resilience and leadership. Diagnosed in her 20s with retinitis pigmentosa, a rare degenerative eye disease, she refused to let vision loss define her. Read more about this remarkable woman here.

With help from Rotarians around the globe, our inquisitive Everyman aims to discover how to find bliss

The summer before my senior year of college, I went on a weeklong baseball tour with my brother. At the time, my shoulders were solid, my hair full, my confidence overflowing. For nine days, we traveled from ballpark to ballpark with 24 other ecstatic fans on a cushy air-conditioned bus, cheering, laughing, meeting people. We oohed at fireworks from the bleachers in Camden Yards and paid our respects at the Lou Gehrig memorial at Yankee Stadium. Read more here.
