What an incredible morning it was as we came together to celebrate 70 years of Rotary service with the Rotary Club of Burleigh Heads! The room was buzzing with energy - more than
100 Rotarians and friends joined us, including visitors from New Zealand and Tropical North Queensland, to mark this remarkable milestone in true Rotary spirit.

who kept the morning flowing beautifully with his trademark humour and warmth. Ken’s quick wit, light-hearted banter, and genuine connection with the crowd brought an extra spark to the celebration - keeping everyone smiling and the program running seamlessly. His ability to balance fun with professionalism made him the perfect host for such a milestone occasion. But Ken, maybe next time, you could promote our next event??? I don't think anyone knew about the Duck Race!
A special highlight of the morning was the induction of our first Corporate Community Partner – Kieser Australia – by Rotary International Zone 8 Regional Director, Jennifer Scott. This partnership marks an exciting step forward as we continue to grow our impact and strengthen our connections within the local community. Welcome!

Although President-Elect Olayinka Hakeem Babalola couldn’t attend in person, his recorded message was a powerful reminder that Rotary’s true legacy is not measured in numbers or years, but in the lives we touch and the lasting ripple of kindness and service we create.
As part of the World’s Greatest Meal, founded by Susanne Rea, your generosity helped raise $540 from breakfast donations, and $790 from the raffle - all supporting End Polio Now and other Rotary causes. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to making a difference both locally and globally.

Andy Rajapakse is one of those Rotarians whose energy, vision, and heart for service seem to fill every room he walks into. A proud member of our club, Andy has dedicated himself to growing Rotary and inspiring others to see what’s possible when people come together to make a difference.
As a Past District Governor (2020–21), Andy led District 9640 through a time of transformation - championing innovation, launching new-style Rotary and Rotaract clubs, and helping make Rotary more inclusive, with a surge in younger and female members. His leadership style is known for being hands-on, creative, and full of optimism.
Professionally, Andy draws on over 20 years’ experience in international marketing and public image, having worked across 12 countries. It’s this global perspective - paired with his local passion - that makes him such an inspiring advocate for Rotary’s mission.
Andy has received numerous recognitions for his service, including Rotary’s prestigious Service Above Self award. But those who know him best will tell you his real reward comes from seeing others succeed, building friendships that last, and helping communities thrive — one project, one idea, and one smile at a time.
