Officer in charge, Palm Beach Station
Oct 22, 2026
I joined the Qld Police Service in February 1991. After 6 years in General Duties (Deception Bay and Redcliffe) I went on to do13 years plain clothes in several suburban CIB offices (Petrie, Boondall, Carseldine), and specialist squads (Organised Crime Squad and Drug Squad) attaining the rank of Detective Sergeant. In January 2021 I was promoted to the rank of Senior Sergeant, Officer in Charge, Cloncurry Station in January 2011. In my time in Cloncurry, I nominated as a candidate in the 2016 Local Government elections, and was successfully voted in as a Cloncurry Shire Councillor. In October 2019 I transferred to the role of S/Sgt, Support Officer to the District Officer, Gold Coast, and then in February 2021 I successfully applied for the position of S/Sgt, Officer in Charge, Surfers Paradise Station. After almost 5 years at Surfers Paradise, in October 2025 I transferred to the position of S/Sgt, Officer in Charge, Palm Beach Station. My most recent and relevant career highlights would include being an operational lead on behalf of the QPS in the implementation and evolution of the Jacks Law handheld scanning powers, and even more recently, the operationalisation of the new Burleigh Beat. I am married with two children, and my wife is also a police officer. She has held the position of Sgt, Gold Coast District Mental Health Intervention Co-ordinator, since 2019.

Gold Coast Legacy Club
Jan 21, 2027
In a nutshell, I have been a soldier, student for the priesthood, stockman, tax accountant, university tutor and lecturer, barrister-at-law and Crown prosecutor, and judicial officer. The bulk of my working life has been involved with the law and the military. I was a part-time member of the Commonwealth Veterans Review Board (the VRB), later becoming a part- time senior member of the VRB. For some 20 years I was a part-time member of the Australian Army Legal Corps, deployed full-time, from time to time. Those deployments included all major military Exercises. In 1993, I was appointed to the panel of legal consultants to the Australian Army. In 1994, I was appointed a Queensland Magistrate and served in that role for some 14 years. I developed a hard-earned reputation for integrity, independence, industry, and fairness. I was deputy general-counsel to the then Criminal Justice Commission (the CJC), established after the Fitzgerald Commission of Inquiry and the inaugural counsel-assisting the CJC's Misconduct Tribunal, which I helped establish. At my own expense, I worked with the NYPD in New York in matters of police discipline and welfare, and the FBI in Washington, DC, helping to develop protocols for police undercover operations. In 2006, I was selected by the then Chief of the Australian Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal A.G. Houston AC, AFC to preside over Commissions of Inquiry into certain deaths in the Australian Defence Force. I was still a full-time Magistrate at that time, so my appointment had to be approved by the then Queensland Attorney-General and Cabinet and authorised by the Governor-in-Council. I continued in that role, part-time, for the next six years. Liz and I moved full-time to the Gold Coast in 2017, and I became a member of what was then the Tweed /Coolangatta Legacy Club, which later amalgamated with the Gold Coast Legacy Club. I have had the privilege of being a director of Gold Coast Legacy for 4 years. Legacy, caring for the families of those who have served our Nation, is unique throughout the world. It is a privilege to be a Legatee. |

Sovereign Community Nursing
Jan 28, 2027
At SCN, we help older Australians and their families navigate the often-complex aged care and health care systems. We are a nurse-led organisation that provides clinical nursing, care coordination, aged care navigation, and in-home support, helping people remain independent and live well in their own homes for as long as possible.
My role is to build relationships within our community, connect people with the right support, and create awareness of the services available to older Australians and their families. I'm looking forward to sharing how SCN is helping local people age with confidence, dignity, and choice.
