G’day GMR members and friends. During Youth Week our merry band of volunteers consisting of
Bob, Bill, Herman, Peter, Phil, Tony & Leanne manned the BBQ at Live N Loud. What a great night for
young musicians, their friends, family and fans. With 11 acts and large crowd in attendance. This is
the 3rd year of Live N Loud and appears to be growing from strength to strength.
On Sunday 23rd of April around 30 Rotary friends and friends of Rotary finally got to do our Mann
River road trip that rain events prevented us from doing last year. We were joined by 8 Goonellabah
Rotary members at the Copmanhurst Hotel before having lunch and meandering our way up the
Clarence way to Carnham Road, over the Broadwater Bridge, then following Cangai Road. There we
met with a long time local, Russell Farmer, who told us a lot about the area during his lifetime there.
He was very complimentary of one particular family that worked the adjoining property Hanging
Rock Station. They were the Cardow family. From there we went to the Jackadgery Store for an ice
cream. Russell did warn us that they were very generous with their scoops. There was no need for
dinner in our household that night.. A big thank you to Don for organising the trip with each car
receiving a 4 page guide and information sheet . Well done Don!
Friday 28 April was the monthly Changing Lanes BBQ. Again all the well prepared food was devoured by
the large crowd there. Thanks to all those who volunteered on the night.
