The Rotary Youth Exchange is back! Over the past few days, the inbound youth exchange students have been arriving, and outbound students have been heading out to their new homes for the year.
This year, District 5360 is receiving inbound students from Brazil, Chile, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Japan and Taiwan. Our club is hosting Arthur Steque from Pacaembu, Brazil. He will initially live with me and my wife Michèle, followed by DG Kurt Kowalchuk and Manon Mitchell.
We are still looking for one host family for the final few months of Arthur’s stay in Canada. If anyone is interested in the highly worthwhile experience of hosting an international student, please let me know. I’ll be happy to connect you to the Rotary Youth Exchange program.
I want to remind everyone that the Rotary Stay-in-School Charity Golf Classic is coming on September 11th. We need everyone to get involved, as there are still plenty of opportunities for golfers, volunteers and sponsors. The golf tournament is the primary fundraiser for our Carl Smith Stay-in-School program.

Think back to the time when you first joined Rotary. Like me, you probably really appreciated those members who took the time to introduce themselves and make you feel a little more comfortable. To me, a Mentor is a bit like that, but with a broader perspective.
We often receive requests to make announcements at Tuesday club meetings. The agenda for club meetings is set by Monday morning so if you need a few minutes to talk about your service project or fundraiser or club news of any kind, please submit your request by the FRIDAY before the club meeting. When you include a powerpoint slide, we will add it to the full slide deck and this will ensure people not only hear but see your information!
Our exchange student Arthur Steque has arrived from Brazil. Rotarians were at YYC Airport to welcome him. We look forward to host Arthur at our club meetings as in some of our homes. The Rotary Youth Exchange program is a Rotary Youth Exchange builds peace one young person at a time.
