With less than a week to Saturday, September 12, I am excited to see how our re-imagined Vision 2020 District Conference is coming together as a virtual event.
I am looking forward to being there and hope you will be joining me and Rotarians, Rotaracters, and friends of Rotary, at what will be a great day of learning and fun.
The Vision 2020 committee preserved some of its plans for the in-person event and creatively came up with ideas only possible during a virtual event.
And here’s the good news; there is no cost to register for the Vision 2020 Virtual District Conference. That’s right, participation for Rotarians, friends and family attending is free!
Several of the speakers who were scheduled for the in-person conference have agreed to present virtually from their homes around the world — from Australia, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Edmonton.

They’re second to none!
Being a virtual conference means that we will have participation from Rotary International leaders in ways that were never possible at traditional conferences.
We are planning to receive video messages from RI President Holger Knaack, from Germany and from our RI Director Valarie Wafer from Ontario.
In the past, House of Friendship displays were packed up after two days, but this year’s virtual project fair means that clubs and non-profits will be able to continue to “strut their stuff” for weeks after the conference.
This will be an excellent opportunity to learn more about other clubs in our District and the great ways they are finding to serve their communities, both locally and internationally.
An “unofficial” aspect of District conferences past was the opportunity to meet informally with other Rotarians for a “cool refreshment” after the sessions ended. Regrettably, that’s not possible this year, but you will have an opportunity to join other Rotarians for a virtual scotch-tasting seminar after the final conference session to sample four different types of Scotch whiskey.
Register today as the Scotch-tasting packages should be ordered before September 7th, 2020, to allow time for mailing.
The Vision 2020 Virtual District Conference may be different than anything we have experienced before, but what a pandemic can’t deny us is the opportunity to gather as Rotarians to learn and have fun as friends with a common goal—service to humanity.

Young Professionals Satellite Club
Imagine, if all former Youth Exchange students, RI Grant Scholars and other young professionals would be part of Rotary and have their own club; Rotary will continue to live on with strong leaders.
The Rotary E-club of Canada One, has invited a number of former YE students (In and Outbound), Global Grant scholars, and Interactors, to be part of an E-Satellite Club under the umbrella of RECCO.
Response from various parts of the world, has been very positive.
An information ZOOM meeting will be announced soon, and will determine who may participate, who will take the lead and how this club chooses to operate.
