Dolly Parton Imagination Library (DPIL)   
Ongoing since 2013      
 
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Canada is a free book gifting program devoted to inspiring a love of reading in young children. In partnership with local community partners, enrolled children receive monthly, a high quality, age-appropriate book in the mail, free of charge.
 
From a Toronto stage in November of 2006, Dolly Parton enthusiastically announced the Canadian expansion of her Imagination Library. It was the first international push for the organization. Program coverage has spread across all Canadian provinces and territories, gifting over 3 million books in Canada in partnership with over 400 local program partners. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has recognition for addressing social barriers to literacy.

Project Amigo Canada Society

Project Amigo Canada Society helps lift youth out of poverty through education. We focus on supporting the youth of lower-income families in Suchitlan, Colima, Mexico. 
 
Without support, these youth would have difficulty achieving even a basic, education.
 
We ensure they have access to a continuous education from elementary to technical school or university levels and the ability to achieve their highest potential.
 

The Rotary E-club of Canada One appreciates donations made by visiting Rotarians and guests when they attend this meeting. In recognition of the support given to our Club by these visitors, the Club makes a quarterly donation of $100 to the Rotary Foundation”.

Creating Opportunities for Guatemalans is dedicated to educating children in poverty as a means to a better future. Many parents in our community have only a primary school education; some are illiterate. Their lack of education keeps them in low-income jobs and makes the basic costs of their children’s education unaffordable. Parents are unable to help their children with their homework, meaning the children often lack the necessary support to be able to succeed at school. Poverty also results in poorer health for these parents and their children. Our organization is working to change the children's lives from poverty to progress.

Mondesa Youth Opportunities, a non-profit trust, is dedicated to providing comprehensive educational support to talented students from underprivileged schools.
 
Namibia’s schools face the challenges of overcrowding, inadequate funding, and a lack of effective leadership. Within these crowded classrooms, capable students often get overshadowed by repetitive failures, leading to a loss of potential.
 
Our mission is to foster leadership abilities and instil the values of responsible citizenship in our learners, equipping them for a brighter future.

The mission of The Children’s Foundation International is to rescue and transform the lives of children in needy and desperate circumstances. We are committed to providing shelter, food, clothing, education, medical care, and other life-changing necessities to children with compassion, integrity, dedication, hope, and love. Our values are centered around rescuing children from hopeless and dangerous situations and truly changing their lives.
 
We believe in acting with compassion and integrity, dedicating ourselves to giving these children the care and opportunities they need to thrive.
 
Our vision is to focus our efforts primarily in Mexico, where we support the Children’s Home and programs of Casa Hogar Los Angelitos (CHLA) in Manzanillo, Colima. As a major support system for CHLA, we aim to expand our reach, providing care, tools, and opportunities to thousands of needy children in the future.
 
Our goal is to bring peace and security to these young lives, helping them become successful and contributing members of their communities.
 
KIVA Microfinancing

It all began in March 2005, when the first loan on kiva.org was funded. Elizabeth, a woman in Uganda, used her $500 Kiva loan to expand her fish-mongering business, traveling to purchase fish by the basket to sell at local markets. That $500 changed her life.

 
Nineteen years later, 5 million people have used Kiva loans to change theirs.

The world has made huge strides against polio with cases down 99.9% over the last four decades. With renewed global attention and commitment, we can finally beat polio, but the last stretch is the toughest.

Subirana Water Pipeline And Wash Project

Subirana, Honduras
 
The community of Subirana and Rotary Club of El Progreso have met and 90% of the club visited the project and community to assess the proposal. The Club has formed a committee of three to begin the formation of the project and is seeking that we do the same until we know the feasibility of the projects and have a funding plan. The proposal was approved in May 2016 for the D5370, Rotary Foundation and Rotary Canada Foundation matching funds.
 

El Salvador Pathways to Literacy

 
The focus of this phase of the ongoing project is to provide funding for education for teachers at a school in El Salvador for one year ($3000/year). We're looking to fund at least one teacher for preschooler's, and one for Grades 4-9 (computer studies). $4500.00 will fund one teacher and also fund 100 students that are studying small business creation, for one year. Any amount will help this project, so if your club has some excess funds, please contact Lynne Ternosky, Project Chair.
