Polio Update:
I am thrilled with the support for the fight to End Polio Now our district has shown so far this year! We are one of the top giving districts in our zone and our zone is number one in the world! I am told that our per capita giving to polio is about $67, which is more than many districts give to the annual fund. Congratulations and thank you for your support. Remember that Timmy's Double Double continues to be a challenge that we can all promote, not only to members but also to the general public. On April 23, 2016 we are going to host an End Polio Now Walk in conjunction with President Ravi's visit to our district. I would love to see at least 500 on the walk. What a statement that would make for the world! I hope you or members of your club can attend. Sign up and download a pledge sheet here: http://www.crsadmin.com/EventPortal/Registrations/PublicFill/EventPublicFill.aspx?evtid=80e0cf4d-6370-4224-983e-ae7042679b7f
We are so close to ending polio. So far in 2016 there have been 5 new cases of wild polio virus in Pakistan and 1 in Afghanistan. Although it is disappointing to have any new cases, this is down from the 17 cases in the same time period last year. We need to make that last push and maybe next year at this time District Governor Elect Laura will be able to report that we have had no new cases in 2017. Rotary Foundation chair Ray Klinginsmith has asked every club to contribute US$1,500 from club funds to help the effort. Any club to make this contribution will receive a certificate of appreciation.
Thank you for all you are able to do to help.
