VISION 2020
That will be the theme for the 2020 District Conference hosted by the Rotary E-Club of Canada One under the leadership of Jim Ferguson, who as of July 1st of this year will take on the position of District Governor Nominee. Elly Contreras has been appointed as Conference Chair and several other District Rotarians have stepped forward to assist as Co-Chair and Committee Chairs. The conference will likely be in the Edmonton area. With most of our member spread across the globe, it is important that we have some Committee Chairs on the ground. A few of our E-Club members have also accepted a specific role.
We will be needing many volunteers and may call on you as well, during either preparation or at the Conference itself, which of course you would not want to miss.
Jim won't be able to set a date until early in the new year, but anticipates mid September. Stay tuned, share your ideas and keep Vision 2020 on your mind.

Fellowship is the key to Happy Members and a Healthy Club
Meeting our fellow Rotarians is one of the highlights of membership. With our members spread out across the country and even the globe, this is not always easy, but several of our members make it a regular practice to meet up whenever they can. Such was the case on Monday, April 16th, when Elly and Ramiro returned from Mexico and made a stop in Calgary before they continued to Osoyoos. Jean Michel drove through a heavy snowstorm and the three enjoyed good fellowship and breakfast together. Amongst the various topics many ideas for the good of Rotary were discussed.
Thank you Jean Michel for taking the time to visit. We've go to do this more often.
During the second half of August, there will be a gathering in the Vancouver area, with Peter DeNooy from Dominican Replublic. There is also a possibility that some of us will meet up with Sabine from Germany  this summer as she plans a visit to BC this summer.
Keep in touch with your fellow members, the Club directory, including location, is available on Clubrunner.

Tribute to Humboldt
At the April board meeting, President Lynne suggested a letter be sent to the three Rotary Clubs closest to Humboldt Saskatchewan, in honour of the young people, their families and communities affected by the recent bus accident. The board agreed and a letter was sent to the Prince Albert, Watrous and Melfort Saskatchewan Rotary Clubs, which are all within 150 km of Humboldt.

New Vision Statement
In June, Rotary's Board of Directors and Trustees approved a new vision statement for our organization:
"Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change -
across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves."

Stephanie Urchick, chair of Rotary's Strategic Planning Committee, explains what went into arriving at that statement, and how you can help us chart a course for Rotary to thrive in the years ahead.
