Greeter this week Lynne Ternosky

My name is Lynne Ternosky, I am from Stratford Ontario and am your greeter this week. Rotary objectives attracted me along with the opportunity to meet like-minded Rotarians from all over the world, with our shared values in World Peace and Humanitarianism.
Rotary projects have taught me that education in all forms, is the key to positive communication and peaceful resolution of differences, as well as project sustainability.
One Rotary project completed is a classroom built and teacher hired for computer studies in an existing grade school. Over 450 students and 17 other teachers studied for 10 months computer basics in their areas of focus, and they held a computer fair. The salary also permits the teacher to study off hours completing a university computer engineering degree.

What a great investment of time and resources! Our partner, The Rotary Club of Santa Tecla in El Salvador has asked us to continue this excellent project.
Join us, today to learn more about Rotary, about building better relationships between Rotary Clubs and get inspired for your week!
Inspirational Moment
Slow Dance
Slow Dance
Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?
Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down; Don't dance so fast.
Time is short; The music won't last.
Time is short; The music won't last.
Do you run through each day on the fly?
When you ask, “How are you”, Do you hear the reply?
When you ask, “How are you”, Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, do you lie in your bed,
with the next hundred chores running through your head?
with the next hundred chores running through your head?
You'd better slow down; Don't dance so fast.
Time is short, The music won't last.
Time is short, The music won't last.
Ever told your child, We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste, not see his sorrow?
And in your haste, not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch, let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time to call and say,'Hi'
Cause you never had time to call and say,'Hi'
You'd better slow down; Don't dance so fast.
Time is short. The music won't last..
Time is short. The music won't last..
When you run so fast to get somewhere,
You miss half the fun of getting there.
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....Thrown away.
It is like an unopened gift....Thrown away.
Life is not a race., Do take it slower
Hear the music Before the song is over.

“Enjoyed the history of Paul Harris inspirational but also Rotary District and club grants to provide such things as computers in Mexico to keep kids off the street after school.
I like to see programs on anything that supports Rotary values with inspiration or provides ideas and examples of how Rotary can help improve the social aspects of our world”.

“I loved the speaker program. All too often, we focus on being happy before we are grateful. If we stop and take the time to look, the way David Steindl-Rast suggests, we find that we already have so much to be grateful for, and really can't help but be happy.”

“I really enjoyed the FBT Little Quartet - they were very good singers and humourous too.
David Steindl-Rast talked about "Want to be happy? Be grateful" that every moment is a gift and if we let one go by there will be another moment. So avail yourself to the opportunity. STOP - LOOK - GO
We tend to rush through life but we should stop so as not to miss an opportunity. Look at the world around us and let our senses take it all in. Then go and do something that is valuable and that is a real gift.”
Donna Nicoll, RC Edmonton Northeast – D5370

“While attending the December 23 e-meeting, I was sitting in the cockpit of my sailboat in Florida with a cup of tea and laptop, and no shirt on. The lack of fellowship was made up for by the Rotary content. Thanks to all who made the meeting possible. Wishing everyone a prosperous New Year".

January is Rotary Awareness Month

January is “Rotary Awareness Month," a time for us to consider how our Rotary values - and our own actions - influence the public’s perception of Rotary. Let’s think about how our Rotary core values of Service, Fellowship, Diversity, Integrity and Leadership play a central role in our Club’s activities and our personal lives.

Let’s think about how our Rotary core values of Service, Fellowship, Diversity, Integrity and Leadership play a central role in our Club’s activities and our personal lives.
It is also a time to learn more about our organization, and a time to focus on our public image. Raising awareness of Rotary is an important part of the RI Strategic Plan: The more Rotary is known for its good work, the more good work Rotary will be able to do. As Past RI President Robert Barth of Switzerland said, “We believe that the Rotary pin on our lapel sends a message. It says: “You can rely on me. I am dependable, I am reliable, I give more than I take. I am available.”
