Malala Yousafzai: January 13 - 19, 2014
Greeter this week: Paul Falvo

Greetings from the top of the Rockefeller Centre!
A Rotary member since 2008, I left the Rotary Club of Yellowknife and joined the E-Club so I could take part in meetings while traveling. One of the greatest pleasures I have had as a Rotarian is visiting terra clubs in other communities.
Do you visit Rotary club when traveling?
Being a Rotarian means always having someone to share a meal with wherever you go.
Rotary International has an online club locator. Find a club; Attend their meeting and tell them about your club. If you're an e-Club member, tell them how to attend your club's meeting!

Attend International Conventions and District Conferences!
International Conventions are the perfect way to deepen your Rotary involvement and meet new people. The "Convention Goers Fellowship" (a group of Rotarians that promotes convention attendance) has helpful convention tips, and a listing of upcoming conventions.
Our district also hosts an annual Conference; a mini convention experience ... REGISTRATION is now open for October 2014 in Edmonton!

Finally, stay in touch with fellow members through FaceBook, Club meetings and Fellowship Assemblies. Contact me if you are traveling, or willing to host a gathering of E-Clubbers in your community. I’ll help you spread the word.

Let’s hear from our Guests and Members
Each week we receive comments from guests and members, who attend our e-meetings. We like to share some of these comments with you.
“The quartet's Christmas production was hilarious! I enjoyed the speaker's presentation about the importance of gratitude. "When you're grateful, you aren't fearful. When you're not fearful, you aren't violent." Food for thought. And as a Rotarian in Mexico, I'm inspired (and grateful!) to learn from the greeter Gordon Lewis about the good work that Rotarians are doing in Manzanillo.”

“Wonderful meeting. Plenty of suggestions to improve in our Pampa Gaucho e-club 4780 District in order to revitalize it”

“I loved the quote from Einstein and as I watch the current generation texting while driving, walking, eating and lots of other "ings"; I believe it may be too late to save them from becoming idiots!!!!”

January is Rotary Awareness month. During this month we feature oportunities for all Rotarians to help strengthening Rotary's image through words.
When you share your passion for Rotary, you have the power to change a stranger into a volunteer, a colleague into a donor, and a family member into a Rotarian.

Food for Thought
WHAT IF… taking notes makes you smarter?
WHAT IF… taking notes makes you smarter?
RESEARCH SAYS: Did you know that Leonardo Da Vinci filled notebook after notebook with ideas, inventions, sketches, and more? It turns out Da Vinci was on to something. We become smarter because the act of writing or drawing excites different parts of our brains so that ideas become more tangible. We are more likely to be more creative, and we are able to reason a connection between the unconnected.
