ImageGreeter this week:  Archie Skirving
Yes, the days grow shorter, and  the nights grow longer this time of year. In London Ontario by 6 pm EST, it’s dark. Over centuries, humanity has sought the light. From the bonfires of the Lerwick Up Helly Aa Festival on the Shetland Islands, to the descending bright crystal ball in Times Square New York City, light is the central symbol.

For those from the Indian sub- continent, Diwali is a five day festival of Light.
For those whose roots and faith are centered in the Hebrew Scriptures, Hanukkah celebrates an eight day Festival.
For those who live the Christian Faith, the star of Bethlehem with its angel choir, leads millions to celebrate Christmas.

As our Rotary e-club meeting begins, it’s not too far a stretch to say, the Service Above Self motto continues to bring a human light as the spread of polio is resolved, as exchange students and ambassadorial scholars bring new perspective to their communities, as men and women around the globe meet in fellowship, Yes Rotary shines. Enjoy the meeting.

Comments from our Guests
Each week we receive comments from guests and Prospective members, who attend our e-meetings. We like to share some of their comments with you.

“Even as a long time Rotarian, it is helpful to see the visuals that RI produces - encouraging and inspiring Service above Self around the world”. – Archie Skirving RECWC

“It is interesting to see that in our day and age that the people doing service are not as recognized as people to look up to as movie stars and hockey stars etc. The more I attend different meetings and conferences I have met more amazing people that have done more good and I never new they existed. I think we, as a people encourage you to look up to people like Past RI President Wilf and some of the amazing others I have had the pleasure to meet”.
Kerry Hammel - RC Kindersly D5360

“Very inspiring to continue the good work we can do as Rotarians”.
Dennis Armitage – RC Dawson Creek Sunrise

A Little Humour
The Polish Divorce
A Polish man moved to the USA and married an American girl.
Although his English was far from perfect, they got along pretty well.

One day he rushed into a lawyer's office and asked if the lawyer could arrange a divorce for him.
The lawyer said getting a divorce would depend on the circumstances, and asked him the following questions:
Have you any grounds?
Yes, an acre and half and nice little home.
No, I mean what is the foundation of this case?
        It made of concrete.
I don't think you understand.Does either of you have a real grudge?
No, we have carport, and not need one.
I mean what are your relations like?
All my relations still in Poland ..
Is there any infidelity in your marriage?
We have hi-fidelity stereo and good DVD player.

Does your wife beat you up?
No, I always up before her.
Is your wife a nagger?
         No, she white.
Why do you want this divorce?
         She going to kill me.
What makes you think that?
         I got proof.
What kind of proof?
She going to poison me. She buy a bottle at drugstore and put on shelf in bathroom. I can read English pretty good, and it say: Polish Remover

Canadian Rotarians inducted into the Arch C. Klumph Society:
The Rotary Foundation recently inducted six couples from Canada into the Arch C. Klumph Society, which honors donors who give US$250,000 or more to the Foundation.  The Canada Day induction ceremony took place at RI World Headquarters in Evanston on October 25th.
Inductee Sandy MacKay said he and his wife decided to join the society after they received a request from Trustee Chair Wilf J. Wilkinson.  “I think that for the Arch C. Klumph Society to grow, more high level asking must be done,” say Past District Governor MacKay of District 5360

Food for Thought
Kindness is an inner desire that makes us want to do good things even if we do not get anything in return. It is the joy of our life to do them. When we do good things from this inner desire, there is kindness in everything we think, say, want and do."
Emmanuel Swedenborg
1688-1772, Scientist, Philosopher and Theologian
