This message illustrates how attending an International Rotary Convention can change your world.

10 Years ago I met two incredible individuals on the sidewalks of Salt Lake City, where the RI Convention was held that year. Dan Morales and Paul Geisel have been Rotarians for many years in the Arlington/Ft. Worth area of RI District 5790 in Texas. They have (and still are) serving Rotary in many capacities, have both been President of their club and Governor of their District and you can see their pictures on the wall in Evanston, as they are members of the Arch Klumph Society. That meeting changed my Rotary life, as they convinced me to join them at a wheelchair distribution a few months later in Leon, Mexico. That is where I had my "Rotary Moment" and since then we have together organized several wheelchair distributions around the world. All that would not have been possible without the financial support of The Rotary Foundation. So when Dan invited us to attend his "coronation" as President of the Rotary Club of Arlington Great Southwest, Ileana and I headed to Texas after the Atlanta Convention. We had purchased a copy of "Doing Good in the World: The Inspiring Story of The Rotary Foundation's First 100 Years", signed by the author, David Forward, and it was a thrill for me to give the book to Dan and to thank him for all the good he does in the world.

Comments from our Guests and Members

I enjoyed the variety of items for the meeting. Unlike other online make-ups, I felt I was at an actual meeting as a part of the whole Rotary experience.
David Craddock, RC of Killeen, Texas, D-5870

The video about the mosque across the street was a great illustration of how we judge other people and their religions without actually knowing anything about them or their religion.
David Werrett, Rotary E-Club of Canada One, D-5370

The underwater forest documentary was both informative and entertaining.
Lou Spizzirri, Rotary E-Club of Canada One, D-5370

Irene Gallego Romero "Nature vs. Nuture"
Irene discusses the complexity of our genetic makeup. she first explains how we are a single gene from being an ape. Human genes have the ability to adapt to the environment in which we leave. She uses the gene that represents our ability to breakdown lactose. There are areas in the world that it is possible for grown adults to break down lactose and other parts where it is not. This is most likely due to the overall availibility during childhood and adult years.

Michael Thomas, RC of Stony Plain, Alberta, D-5370

Greeting to my Rotary Family from Barbados

Johanne and I are on a 2 week house sit on this lovely Island.
It was never a place on my radar but I am glad we got to see it.
All the Caribbean islands have a different vibe to them. Barbados is somewhere in the middle between undeveloped and over run.
It could make a nice vacation destination.
