STRATFORD WELCOMES REFUGEES and Rotary E-Club of Canada One
The E-Club Community Services Committee has responded to the SYRIAN refugee plight. Three ways were suggested. Two outside of Canada and one inside of Canada.
Rotary E-Club of Canada One Board of Directors approved the participation of the Rotary E-Club of Canada One in "Stratford Welcomes Refugees" Steering Committee. The objective was engage the community and facilitate the reception and resettling of 5 families from Syria to Stratford. The Government of Canada will match all donations. No tax payer money will be used. The original target set was $225,000.
Already, $48,680 has been raised (November10, 2015), enough to support two of the five families. The Rotary District 5387 Charitable Foundation will provide tax receipts for all donations made to the Rotary E-Club of Canada One for this project. Funds will be forwarded to the Agency selected, Mennonite Central Committee for matching.
The first family has passed all Government of Canada screening checks. As of this week, the family has ten members. Yes, a new baby was born in the Lebanon refugee camp this past week. Donations are welcome and may be made by Paypal. Please note "Stratford Welcomes Refugees" on your donation. What a wonderful opportunity to give to a Rotary and global peace effort this season!

Funding that goes into the RI Foundation can be applied to develop "Peace Leader's". There are up to 100 Peace Fellowships granted each year, those selected are capable of mediating conflicts in places all over the World often in their home Countries.

Funding that goes into the RI Foundation can be applied to develop "Peace Leader's". There are up to 100 Peace Fellowships granted each year, those selected are capable of mediating conflicts in places all over the World often in their home Countries.
We as Rotarians are most familiar with massive amounts of money that has being contributed to the prevention of polio spreading now under control
in all Countries except Pakistan and Afghanistan. Other diseases such as HIV/AIDS and malaria are also the subject of funding, the source is all from RI Foundation donations.
