Greeter this week: Elly Contreras

Since our charter in 2013, I have spoken with numerous Rotarians who were looking for an alternative to a Terra club for various reasons. Many indicate they would not consider an e-club, as they feel that there are no opportunities for Fellowship. Those of us however, who participate in the Weekly FellowSIP Coffee Chats or FellowSIP Assemblies, or gather for regional Pod Meetings know better.
These events are a great way to get to know each other. There is a lot of laughter, friendships develop and get-togethers are planned. For Prospective members it is a wonderful introduction to our members, while enjoying your favorite beverage.
If the weekly Thursday 8:00 am Coffee Chat or the Monthly 3rd Tuesday 6:00pm is not convenient for you, why not schedule an alternate time during lunch, The same link can be used for ALL FellowSIP events, just contact Peter Denooy to ensure no other Zoom meetings are schedules at that time.
Details can be found on our website under Upcoming Events. Always use this same LINK: https://zoom.us/j/709771987
We hope to see you at our next FellowSIP Event.

Emmanuel Jal; The Music of a War Child; August 20 - 26, 2018
Again the TED Talk video was great and inspiring to hear how someone from so far down can rise so far up.  Especially liked his final line "go save the life of a child".  Went and did some research on Jiggers Disease as I had never heard of it before so very informative and how they are supplying flip flops to help prevent it in Africa.

Shelterbox
Such a worthy cause. International humanitarianism at it's Rotary finest!

Margaret Hegan, RC of Edmonton Strathcona, D-5370

This story about the possibility or lack of evidence of the presence of aliens got me thinking. But what struck my interest in this web meeting was the record of the 303 combines at work. It reminds me of my work as a combine operator for a contractor in 1962. No cabs and lots of dust, Farming has become a lot more comfortable.
Jean-Michel Crepin, Rotary E-Club of Canada One, D-5370

I enjoyed the "Canadian Slavery Story".  It is always interesting to hear stories of our history even if they are sad and unfortunate events.
