Bathurst Rotary Club has relied upon the participation of members in the Bathurst to Blayney Cycle Event to raise money to for our local charities. This year the event was organised by Bathurst Regional Council and although members spent many hours assisting with the running of the event, the money received by the club from Council, to distribute to our charities, was disappointing low - well below that received in previous years. In reducing the amount received by the club, it has denied local charities well deserved support from our club. It is hoped that Bathurst Council is not using the event to raise council funds.

![]() The final month of every Rotary year is Fellowship Month. This is a fitting designation since fellowship is particularly to the forefront with changeovers being very much the priority in June. Rotary Fellowships are international, independently organized groups of Rotarians, Rotary spouses and Rotoractors who share a common vocation or recreational interest. Rotary Fellowships give members the opportunity to have fun, make new friends around the world, and enhance their experience in Rotary. The scope of Rotary Fellowships has changed significantly over the years,
but their purpose remains the same – to unite Rotarians in friendship and provide opportunities to enjoy favourite recreational or professional activities. |
The Power of OneBathurst Rotarian Bev Cooney, OAM tells in her own words, of her amazing volunteering in Peru over the past few years.
"Firstly, let me say it is thanks to Bryce Courtenay and his amazing book and movie. They are the reason I do what I do in my life. The book has travelled across the Pacific with me 24 times on all of my trips."
In 2003 I received a call from my middle daughter Kerri, who said ‘Mum it’s time for you to go on your holiday to Peru that you have been wanting to do all your life.’ Within an hour I had my trip booked and paid for and then spent 6 months getting fit and preparing for a month of walking where the Inca’s walked. After spending a lifetime, and I do mean that literally, it was an incredibly exciting time. If only I had known what was about to happen. In August 2003, at 55 years of age, I hopped on a plane and headed off to Peru to fulfil my dream.

Dr Jesse Middleton from The Bathurst Chiropractic Health and Wellness Centre, was introduced to the club by Rotarian David Nicholl. Jesse spoke about the relationship between stress and disease and how stress impacts on health. In Australia, 90 % of diseases are related to stress. Dr Middleton urged everyone to take care of their health stating that 'Procrastination is the greatest thief of health.' In an attempt to stop Rotarians procrastinating about their health, he offered a full health assessment to members at a reduced fee that would be donated to Cancer Research. Well done Dr Jesse Middleton.
