On Saturday May 8, our annual Duck Race has held on the Macquarie River, Bathurst. The race, held as a fund raiser for the Rotary Club of Bathurst, had 330 yellow rubber ducks competing for race honours as they floated down the river. This was the largest number of ducks ever sold by Rotary Club members prior to the day. Organised by Bathurst Rotarian, David Weekes, and supported by club members, some of whom were in the river on the day to grab the winners and and assist in the running of the event. Combined with great weather and a wonderfully supportive crowd, the race raised valuable funds that the club will use to assist local charities, youth programs and Rotary Projects. The winner, Duck 234 made it over the rapids and over the winning line in just 4 minutes, followed closely by the rest of the field during the next 60 seconds. Well done to all concerned.
