In March 2025, a volunteer team of 18 dental professionals and support members traveled to Grace Academy in Ndola, Zambia, a home and school for nearly 200 orphaned and vulnerable children supported by Seeds of Hope Children’s Ministry. Backed by Rotary clubs, the International College of Dentists, and other partners, the team set up a 16-day clinic, treating 187 children and 15 adults. Care included fillings, extractions, hygiene, root canals, periodontal surgeries, dentures, and comprehensive oral health education.
While equipment transport and licensing posed challenges, the project was marked by resilience, trust-building with the children, and strong collaboration among the international team. The experience highlighted both the urgent need for dental care—particularly for periodontal disease—and the lasting impact of prevention and education. The initiative also sparked connections with local Zambian Rotarians to explore future, locally driven dental outreach.
