Endowment Fund
The Madison South Rotary Foundation (MSRF) is a non-profit organization that was created by members of the Madison South Rotary Club in September 1978 to help fund charitable and educational purposes.
In December 2024, the Endowment Fund was created to encourage and facilitate long-term philanthropy and to further the mission of the Madison South Rotary Foundation.
In our Articles of Incorporation, we state:
“the members of this (MSRF) Corporation shall consist of all the voting members of the Rotary Club of Madison South located at Madison, Wisconsin which is part of Rotary International, with offices in Evanston, Illinois.”
The Articles of Incorporation further state the MSRF “Corporation is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code...”
In June 1980, the Internal Revenue Service issued a Letter of Determination recognizing the MSRF as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt public charity (EIN #39-1342489).
Growing the Endowment
There are two ways to contribute to the Endowment Fund: commit to giving during your lifetime (Giving While Living) or join the Madison South Rotary Foundation Legacy Society. Either way, your support will help the fund flourish and make a lasting impact.
By embracing the concept of “Giving While Living,” donors can use our pledge form to make a one-time contribution or commit to giving over multiple years, spreading their generosity over a period of up to five years. Regardless of your decision, your impact will be lasting and far-reaching.
The Legacy Society offers a simple method to contribute a planned gift to The Madison South Rotary Foundation Endowment Fund by including a specific bequest in your will or trust. By doing so, you not only support the foundation but also enjoy the potential reduction or elimination of income, gift, and estate taxes. Your planned giving has the power to create a lasting impact.
A bequest may be a fixed sum, a percentage, or a residual donation. With a bequest, asset control remains with you while alive. These gifts are adaptable and can be modified anytime during your lifetime.
When you contribute to the Madison South Rotary Endowment Fund, you’ll be joining with fellow Rotarians, their loved ones, and other community members who acknowledge the valuable efforts of the Madison South Rotary Foundation Including:
NON-PROFIT GRANTS – Every year, the MSRF allocates funds to local 501(c)3 non-profits that share our mission, supporting their causes through our grant-making process.
SCHOLARSHIPS – The MSRF offers financial support via several college scholarships, focusing on first-generation college students, individuals who have conquered major obstacles, and those enrolling in Madison College. We prioritize empowering students who are blazing their own trail and overcoming hurdles to achieve their educational dreams.
SERVICE PROJECTS – The core philosophy of Rotary, “Service Above Self,” promotes selfless volunteerism. Embodying this motto, the MSRF supports the Madison South Rotary Club on local and international service projects.
