Sarah Eskrich, Executive Director of Democracy Foundation and a fellow Rotarian with the Downtown club, shared with the club the theory of the final five voting. Final five voting is based on the concept of breaking partisan gridlock to save our democracy from the book “The Politics Industry” written by Katherine M. Gehl and Michael Porter. Under final five election system, there is a single ballot primary with the top five candidates advancing to the final election. In the final election, there is a ranked choice ballot to pick the winner. Sarah shared that there is bi-partisan support for final five voting and a bill is in its initial stages with the Wisconsin legislature. Sarah shared the state of Alaska just completed a special election using the final five system. If you missed it, here is the link to the presentation: https://youtu.be/AeQGQjv7vZQ
