On a record day, Mercy Dental Missions had 45 dental health professionals serve patients in need. Kyrsta Wetzel, Executive Director, says her organization serves “vulnerable people.” They are the uninsured, underinsured, and come from under-served areas.
“The gap is very wide,” says Wetzel. Madison-based, Mercy Dental Missions serves the local community, but also low-income people from other countries. The organization is a Madison South Rotary grant recipient.
Wetzel says without adequate dental care, patients are at risk for other health problems, along with pain and discomfort. Unfortunately, the need for these services is growing and so are the services the organization provides. So far in 2026, there were 632 volunteers.
