Madison South Rotary was very pleased to welcome Tom Farley to our club meeting this week.Tom shared "Life Lessons" he learned from sharing a bedroom with his brother, the late Chris Farley, including:
1. Finding your lane - being true to who you are instead of what others expect you to be
2. Connecting with your audience - learning what does and doesn't resonate with people
3. Embracing the ensemble - at some point every single person on your team is an integral part of your business. He advised, "Resist evaluating people solely on their talent. Evaluate people on how their skills can enhance the group and how their weaknesses (and we all have them) are diminished by this whole collective. Shifting to an 'ensemble mindset' creates several benefits. First, it's much easier to welcome new member because everyone feels important. They feel they matter, their presence is welcome and their voices will be heard. And, if/when someone does leave, a well tuned ensemble is far better positioned to seamlessly refresh."
