We've come to a crossroads regarding our Madison South Rotary Newsletter and can no longer produce it in the way we have previously published. Instead, we will take advantage of the electronic Rotary program known as Club Runner, which easily integrates all of the key information Rotary Clubs must tally, as well as provides space for newsletter copy, upcoming events and announcements. We have been paying for this software for some time, but have not fully taken advantage of what it offers. It is my goal to do exactly that in the coming weeks and months, thanks to the help of Bob Vanden Burgt and others on our team.

The reason it makes sense to make this transition now is that it is too time consuming and challenging to continue producing the newsletter with a design program. We are all volunteers and nobody is either willing or able to take on this responsibility every single week. Dick Rehberg and Bill Rock generously did so for many years, as has Bob in more recent years. But asking members to do fulfill this role on an ongoing basis is no longer feasible, and frankly, not in the best interest of the club. The world has changed. We read less printed information all the time, having turned to website links, PDFs, tablet computers, mobile phones, etc. Madison South Rotary must change, too.
Nevertheless, it looks like we may be able to have a printed version of the newsletter once per month, thanks to Jim Iliff, who is familiar with the graphics program. Failing that, we might investigate the possibility of hiring a graphic designer for the same time period.
I am confident, however, that the vast majority of our members will be well-served, getting a link via email that take them directly to Club Runner, which lists all of the information we need to access.
