Annual $100 Raffle

Hello Rotarians,

The $100 Raffle night has been set for Wednesday, December 4th, 5-7pm at Duffy's in Old Orchard Beach.  It will take the place of our regular club meeting for that week so please mark your calendar and attend if you can.  Tickets are being printed, then sorted and will be distributed on Wednesday, November 13th.  This only leaves you TWO WEEKS to sell them before the event!  Please consider this email as my plea to start asking your family and friends now (and collect the money while they are in a Turkey coma).

The Excel spreadsheet (and PDF) from last year's sales is sent by email if you would like to see who you sold to.  If there is a member no longer in our club, I will reassign their tickets to new Rotarians or any Rotarian who sells less than three tickets to ensure I am spreading the pain evenly.  :)

Thank you,
Karen and Kaitlin

Chief Duross
  • October is fire prevention month. The catalyst for fire prevention week came from The Great Chicago fire on October 9, 1871 that killed approximately 300 people, destroyed roughly 3.3 square miles of the city and left more than 100,000 residents homeless.
  • in 2017 – 1.3 million fires in the U.S. causing 3,400 deaths and a loss of $23 billion.
  • In general, 30% of all fires begin at home from heating, cooking & smoking related problems.
  • Saco Fire Department works with the Planning & Development Departments to set standards for multi-unit inspection programs, fire safety & code compliance overview.
  • The Knox Box program, allowing the Fire Department to gain access quickly, is growing in the city.
  • Residential sprinklers are not required in Maine. Fires that start in homes with an installed sprinkler system, are out 97% of the time before the fire department arrives.  Approximately $4,000 to install in a new home.
