If club members or the general public would like to support Bryan Baum by donating to his cancer treatment, you can write a check payable to Longmont Rotary, where 100% of your gift will go to Bryan's treatment. You can also use a credit card, using this LINK.
Additionally, Bryan's family has created a GoFundMe page, which is located on the Longmont Rotary Facebook page.
Rotarian Jane Wolford spoke to the club about the Rotary Youth Exchange program. This year, Twin Peaks will be sponsoring Jacobo Gracia Gracia from Alcoy, Spain; he will attend Longmont High School. We are currently looking for one additional family to share hosting duties; this is generally a three-month commitment shared with two other families. Jacobo plays futbol (soccer) and is an excellent student. If your family or a family you know of is interested in hosting, please contact Jane at drjanewolford@gmail.com. If you'd like to learn more about Rotary Youth Exchange, please visit our website. https://rmrye.org/
The Rotary Youth Exchange program brings in high school students from Europe, South America, and Taiwan to District 5450 for each school year. Both Longmont and Twin Peaks Rotary have a rich history of hosting inbound students and sponsoring outbounders.
Additionally, Longmont Rotary has been invited to engage with Jacobo by taking him to dinner, sporting events, or other such special events, etc. These opportunities deeply enrich the Exchange Student's experience. Jane and Jacobo will visit our club in August for a formal introduction.
“No matter how you get involved, Rotary Youth Exchange is an opportunity to open your arms to the world. We turn people into Global Citizens, and I’m not just talking about the students.” Outbound student, Lena KratkyInbound from Austria, 2014-15.
The EPIC DAY OF SERVICE will be held on Saturday, May 17th. Rotary Districts and Clubs around the world will be a part of a global movement of action, impact, and unity. Longmont Rotary will be partnering with Growing Gardens for their EPIC Service Day. You can go to the EPIC Day of Service website to view the various club projects in our district and sign up wherever you feel inspired to serve. Let's have Rotary shine for all to see!
The Rotary Club of Longmont joins Denver Mile High and other Clubs in our District to enable a Rotary International Global Grant to the Navajo Nation. This two-year project will teach young Native Americans cyber skills such as networking and security, and will then follow with funded internships at major corporations where they can employ their newly learned skills.
Additionally, Longmont Rotary will be installing a Peace Pole near the Rotary Bridge, with easy access from the Dicken's Nature Area parking lot. This 8-foot Peace Pole will have inscribed in eight different languages, "May Peace Prevail on Earth". The eight languages reflect the partnering relationships of Longmont Rotary and the city of Longmont. The installation date has not been determined. This will be the second Peace Pole for Longmont, with the first located in Kanemoto Park.
