192 – Dong Zhuo is assassinated by his adopted son Lü Bu. The Dong family and the Lu family have never reconciled.
1570 – The first atlas, Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, is published with 70 maps-all of them wrong.
1804 – The Lewis and Clark Expedition officially began as the Corps of Discovery, departed from St. Charles, Missouri. Correction-the city of St. Charles is named after the 17th Century friar raised to sainthood, and not after Charles Nelson Reilly as reported by President Denny.
1849 – Future U.S. President Abraham Lincoln is issued a patent for an invention to lift boats, making him the only U.S. President to ever hold a patent.
1906 – The Wright brothers are granted U.S. patent number 821,393 for their "Flying-Machine". The resultant patent litigation over the years made more money for lawyers than the flying machine made for the Wright brothers.

President Denny thanked PP Terry Remigio for organizing the very successful social event/road trip to Stem Cider, on Saturday. The hard cider was great and the crepes fabulous. No man-buns were spotted.

Put this on you calendars! Our club has agreed to do an off-site packaging event at the Colorado Feeding Kids warehouse on June 12. This is a hands-on project, that will have us packaging food for local food banks. The address is: 2830 S Zuni St., Englewood, Co 80110. We will meet at there Noon or shortly thereafter. Mark Rank will have box lunches for us to enjoy. If you have any questions, please contact Pat Pogue.
President Denny thanked PDG Talee Crowe for the very successful service event at Ronald McDonald House. Talee thanked all those who attended and helped cook and serve. She said we got rave reviews for the meal.

The District has designated the weeks of July 17 and 23 as "Bring a Friend to Lunch Weeks". SHRC is currently in its 36th consecutive "Bring a Friend to Lunch" week.
President Denny reminded us that Memorial Day comes next week. We should remember all of the 1.2 million Americans who have died in our wars, as well as those currently serving in our armed forces. Thank you to all who have and are serving to keep our country free.
PP Paul Urtz filled in as Sergeant at Arms for PP Jeff Kaes. Paul wanted everyone to note that he got more applause than Jeff ever did. In yo' face!
Club Assembly-
Monday was our last Club Assembly of the year:
--PP Terry Remigio-As noted above, the event at Stem Cider was very successful. Everyone seemed to have a great time. The Installation Banquet is set for June 25 at 6:00 pm, at a place yet to be determined. Anyone who would like to host a summer get together at their home for the club should contact Terry or PE Nancy Jones.
--PDG Talee Crowe-The Community Service Committee has been very active. There have been 18 hands-on service events already this year, which is very high for a club our size. These included Children's Hospital, Gateway Domestic Violence Services, Century Elementary School shopping, Christmas presents and reading events, Habitat For Humanity, Peaceful Schools, 5 Ronald McDonald events, 180 Backpacks, collecting knit caps, and Thanksgiving baskets. Coming up is our offsite to pack meals at Colorado Feeding Kids. We will also donate $1000 to that project.
-Mark Rank-Vocational Services has awarded both the Overland and Rangeview High School scholarships for the year. The scholarship for Pickens Tech will be awarded shortly. Mark is in need of suggestions for off-site visits. You can contact him with any ideas.
-Craig Essex-SHRC has 9 slots for RYLA and Young RYLA this year. DAVA has once again filled a number of those slots (2 YRLA and 4 RYLA), with Rangeview High filling one. Craig himself will be a counselor at RYLA again this year. If anyone would like to become involved in RYLA, let Craig know.
-PE Nancy Jones-Any program ideas for the coming year would be welcome.
Our speaker failed to show, so the Denny and Jeff Show took center stage. This consisted of interviews with Smoky Hill Rotarians. I have to confess that after a heavy lunch, my attention was just not there. When I looked at my notes, they made no sense whatsoever.
