Crime is low in Bethlehem compared to other third class cities stated Mark DiLuzio, Chief of Police for the City of Bethlehem at MSR’s meeting last week. 
 
The police force works closely with the High Schools and this has resulted in no major issues at the schools. 
 
One of the major challenges facing the force today is the anti police sentiment that has swept the nation in the last 2 years.  Groups like, Black Lives Matter, promote hate and violence towards law enforcement and government.  The problem is worsened by false information that is spread by the media. 
 
In the future, body cameras will enable the Police Officers to be able to prove what transpired.  It was interesting to learn how national issues impact the City of Bethlehem.
 
Reminder - 2nd half Morning Star dues are needed before the end of the year.

DECEMBER 22 - ANNUAL CHRISTMAS MUSICAL PROGRAM!
 
Please plan to join us for this most festive of our Rotary programs.

Come celebrate the Holiday Cheer with the Liberty High School Acapella Choir led by the fabulous Gayle Justice.
 
Our own Musical Maestro Extraordinaire, Rick Santee, he of the Lawrence Welk era of accordian-ship, will once again accompany to the delight of all!
 
Everyone looks forward to the Morning Star Rotary 12 Days of Christmas!
 
 Just a reminder, this meeting generally runs late because no one wants it to end!
Salvation Army Kettle Drive Update

Special thanks to the Morning Star Rotarians, family and friends who came out to make this Annual Event successful once again.

Although our coverage was somewhat limited, results were over $1,153 raised to help the Salvation Army!

Unfortunately Janet Sipple took a tumble after her shift, injuring her head and wrist in addition to other bruises. Janet, we thank you profusely and hope you recover quickly.
Purple Pinkie Polio Plus Success!

Results of the 2016 Yvette Palmer Memorial Purple Pinkie Run were once again a great success!
 
Overall the District event raised over $17,250 for Polio Plus
 
For every $250 donation to the Purple Pinkie event, clubs received $345 in Polio Plus credits.
 
For Morning Star Rotary this means that our $1,500 donation to the event, generated $2,070 in Polio Plus Credits!
 
In addition an individual contributed $250 which will be credited in his name.
 
Thus the Total Polio Plus credits to Morning Star were $2,320.
 
Thanks to everyone for your support in the Purple Pinkie event for 2016.
 
We hope to be able to support this event again next year.

Morning Star Celebrates Multiple Paul Harris Recipients
 
We recently had the special occasion to celebrate with four of our fellow Morning Star Rotarians. Please join us in congratulating these Morning Star Rotarians on receipt of their multiple Paul Harris Fellow awards.
 
Dee Elliott and Russ Pacala each received their second Paul Harris Fellow awards.
 
Marianne Aronson and Jean Searfoss each received their third Paul Harris Fellow awards.
 
We thank them and wish them continued positive growth in Rotary!

Viewing Weekly e-Bulletins SmartPhones & Tablets

Some of us have wondered why we see only part of e-Bulletins we try to view in our smart phones or tablets.  
In most cases this is because your phone or tablet's email client only downloads part of the code in the message --
giving you enough to see if you want to continue downloading the whole message (if it's something you want to read) -- or discarding it (if you don't).
 
Here's how to ensure you can see the entire e-Bulletin:

1. Scroll down to the very bottom of the email where you should find a link from your email client asking if you want to download the whole message. Click that link and the entire e-Bulletin should download to your phone.

2. If your email client doesn't cooperate -- and sometimes it doesn't, there is a link at the top of every e-Bulletin, that says "Having troubles viewing this email?" If you click there, it will open the internet browser in your phone or tablet and take you to the bulletin.

If you haven't logged in recently (or maybe ever?), here are step-by-step instructions ...

1.    Go to www.morningstarrotary.org 

2.    Click Member Login (at top right)

3.    If you don't know your Login Name or Password, click "New and existing users - Retrieve your password"

4.    Fill in your last name and email address. ClubRunner will immediately email your Login Name and Password.

5.   Note: the email address must match what ClubRunner has on file for you. If you can no longer access that email address, contact Jean Searfoss, Jeff Kicska or Ron Searfoss with your new address, and we will update it in ClubRunner for you.

After logging in, click on "Member Area" at the top right. Then look under "My ClubRunner" on the left side for a wide variety of club documents and information. Several Directory formats are available to print and/or download. To download member info in Word or pdf, the recommended line to click is eDirectory Report 2.0.
