Coming Sept 19…at our Thursday morning meeting!!! Please join us this Thursday!!! FLU & PNEUMONIA Vaccine Clinic beginning at 7 AM on Sept 19. Provided by the Bethlehem Health Bureau, Stephanie Oakley, RN will present a talk on what you need to know. The information will be quite sobering especially to so many of us considered "seasoned Rotarians!" What You Need to Know •The best way to prevent getting the flu this year is to get vaccinated! •Everyone 6 months of age or older should get vaccinated every flu season. •Even though flu season does not start until October, the vaccine could take up to 2 weeks to achieve full effect so it’s best to get the vaccine as soon as it becomes available. •Besides getting the flu vaccine, the best way to prevent the flu is by washing your hands and staying away from sick people to prevent germs from spreading. Check with your Primary Care Provider if in doubt. Two types of pneumonia vaccines will be available. PREVNAR – 65 years and older. PENUMOVAX – 65 years and older and under 65 years with a chronic illness or smoker. There is no copay for the pneumonia vaccine and it is free if you are insured. The Flu vaccine is $30 if uninsured.
