Last week we had the pleasure of Rotarian Marianne Aronson enlightening us on her personal passion..Tea. Marianne’s love of tea began at the World Fair in New York. In the 90’s she started to try teas from around the world. Tea is the 2nd most consumed drink in the world following water. There are 4 types of tea: White, Black, Oolong and Green. Black Tea has less than 50% of the caffeine of coffee. Tea is grown on 6 continents and in 55 countries. Top producers of tea are China, India, Sri-Lanka, Indonesia, Turkey, Vietnam and Kenya. Thank you Marianne for sharing your knowledge with us.
Stephen Kazar was inducted as our newest member. On behalf of the club, I would like to welcome Stephen to Morning Star Rotary.
This year due to a change of ownership ( ESSROC) did not participate in the Celtic Classic Race. Although the race was a great success, we will net less than previous years. To be able to continue the work that we do, I ask that every member make a special effort to obtain advertising sponsorships for Salute the Troops. All advertisements must be received by Thursday, Oct. 27th.

To benefit Victory House of the Lehigh Valley and other Morning Star Rotary charities. Many of those served by Victory House are Veterans.
How can you help?
Be or find a SPONSOR - ad in the concert program book. Deadline for ads is Oct. 27.
Become a PATRON (listing in the concert program book) or recognize an active or veteran member of the Armed Services with an “IN HONOR OF” listing. (See the attached form or get it at meetings, or from Downloads on the club home page.)
BUY (or sell) the TICKETS (or more!) which given to each member by chair Gary Hartney. Adult ticket price remains $10. (If you can't use yours, consider donating them for Victory House residents to attend.)

Join with the Pennsylvania Polio Survivor’s Network as we participate in the Purple Pinkie Run/Walk. Polio Survivors all over the globe are truly grateful to the efforts of Rotary International’s efforts to eradicate this terrible disease. 80% + of Polio survivors are affected not once but twice from the effects of this disease. Post-Polio Syndrome disables us once again as our muscles lose additional strength as a result of the damage done by the original illness. We are hoping to meet Rotarians from all over the district on October 22nd, and say “Thank You”. You don’t need to run to participate. Most people walk! It will be a fun event. Bring your family and friends. We will have awards for the race winners and also many drawings for door prizes, so both runners and walkers will be winners. We will also have great food!
The cost is $30 ($25 if under 18) (tech T-shirt only while supplies last). Come on out and have a great time for a great cause!
Special prize basket for largest group running or walking together: Interact Clubs, Rotary Clubs, families, other organizations, Engineers without Borders, sports teams. If you have the largest number of folks walking or running in the Purple Pinkie on Oct. 22 you will receive a special prize basket for all to share! Those who walk or run together will eliminate Polio together!
Make a donation to Polio Plus: If you can’t attend that day, you can make a donation to Polio Plus by mailing it in with the attached registration form. Just fill in the additional donation amount, note that you are not attending, and mail the check and form as described on the form. All donations from Rotarians to the race will be credited directly to their Rotary Foundation account for Paul Harris Fellow credit.
We are planning to have a polio survivor who has Post-Polio Syndrome, talk about living with the results of having had Polio. She will focus on the importance of the world-wide commitment by Rotary International to eradicate this terrible disease.

We are pleased to announce thatKym Volp, MBA, B.Ed, RN, will be the honored lecturer at the 10th Annual Janet A. Sipple Lectureship to be held on Wednesday October 19, 2016, at Moravian College’s Foy Hall, starting at 5:00PM.
Kym works in acute public hospital service management (Toowoomba, Queensland) and in clinical governance consultancy (Australia-wide) with the country’s premier health service accreditation agency.
Kym will discuss “Nursing on the Frontline in Australia.” Kym’s roles sustain her currency in professional practice, health system safety applications, health policies and leadership development.

So, if you have taken Part I or Part II, why not register for the Rotary Leadership Institute for Part III?
If you are new to Rotary, you can meet Rotarians from all over the Northeast and learn about how you can make a difference in your club, in your community and in the world through service projects and the Rotary Foundation.
Even Faculty, RLI Officers and Site Chairs and RLI Graduates can expand their horizons by taking this year's Graduate Course on "Effective Public Speaking." Please check with the website to make sure the Graduate Course is being given at the location nearest you. This year's Graduate Class is on Effective Public Speaking.
