We are very excited to be working with the young, energetic Rotaracters from the University of Alberta in partnership with the other sponsoring Rotary clubs: Edmonton Gateway, Edmonton-Mayfield and Edmonton South! Thanks to all for opening the door to this partnership on all fronts!

 

 

 

On Tuesday, March 15, members took their meeting to the streets! Sterling Derk and his team at Derks welcomed our club to their location in Old Strathcona for a tour. This family business was started in 1965 by Sterling's grandfather. He was a farmer who was also a tailor. The first store opened in Capilano Mall in 1965. In the 70s, Sterling's father took over the family business. There was a growing trend for tuxedo and formal wear which started what is now known as Derks Formals.

 

The Rotary club of Edmonton Whyte Avenue has taken on the leadership role to host a Youth Summit on Saturday April 23, 2016 at the Shaw Center from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. 

 

Featured speaker will be President Ravi and we are looking forward to a fantastic event.

 

 

 

Also in attendance will be Rotary International Director Julia Phelps and Director-Elect Dean Rohrs.

It will be an inspirational morning that I am sure will take them even higher.

After the summit we will join the Walk to End Polio. 

 

We would like to have all of the youth attend and we would also like to see at least one club member from every club in the district in attendance as well. 

 

For those of you in Edmonton bring your entire club. 

 

It is not an arduous walk and although we would like to raise a lot of money for polio eradication (Timmy’s Double Double is still in effect) it is just as important for the event to be big and gain a lot of coverage for our efforts.
