On Tuesday, March 15, members took their meeting to the streets! Sterling Derk and his team at Derks welcomed our club to their location in Old Strathcona for a tour. This family business was started in 1965 by Sterling's grandfather. He was a farmer who was also a tailor. The first store opened in Capilano Mall in 1965. In the 70s, Sterling's father took over the family business. There was a growing trend for tuxedo and formal wear which started what is now known as Derks Formals.
Did you know they they also carry a men's line called Mr. Derks? This casual, and more formal line, is named after his grandfather.
Six years ago, they opened a new division; uniforms. This includes fire, police, EMS and more.
They now have multiple locations in Edmonton and Calgary. A true success story as a family business continues to grow and be a part of the Edmonton community!
