Speaker: Dr. Mike Romano, Chief Medical Officer, Nebraska Health Network
Presentation: Working Together to Address Social Determinants of Health

Last week at Rotary, we learned about Social Determinants of Health in the healthcare industry. We have quickly realized the growing impact of factors like food, housing, employment, and transportation on patients. In fact, more than 80% of health outcomes are determined by non-clinical factors. Addressing Social Determinants is a community-wide issue. Dr. Romano discussed this trend during our weekly Tuesday meeting and outlined the steps our community is taking to address social determinants to improve the health and wellbeing of patients.

Michael Romano, MD, serves as the Chief Medical Officer for Nebraska Health Network, the accountable care organization for Methodist Health System and Nebraska Medicine.
