 Mr. Ken Landriault, the director of Cheer-up Missions, the group who is working in collaboration with the Rotary Clubs of New Orleans and Manila on an international philanthropic project, is seen here meeting with Mr. Roberto Gurmot Romero, Honorary Consul and Head of Mission for the Philippine Honorary Consulate in New Orleans. Mr. Romero has just approved the final documents authorizing the shipping and receiving of two containers of educational textbooks and school furniture for Philippine schools devastated by typhoons. Mr. Romero has just approved the final documents authorizing the shipping and receiving of two containers of educational textbooks and school furniture for Philippine schools devastated by typhoons.  Here Ken is mailing those documents on to his teammate, Mr. Bruce Bain, who is already on the ground in the Philippines meeting with members of the government; with shipping and receiving agencies; and with the Manila Rotary Club officers who will be taking possession of the contents of the two shipping containers. Everything is being focused on ensuring that textbooks and furniture are distributed equitably to the affected schools. Our fellow Rotarian, Heather Kirk, will be joining the mission to meet up with the containers and their contents there in the Philippines and to enjoy some fellowship with our brother and sister members of the Manila Rotary Club. She has promised a presentation to us upon her return. |
