FitWorkz CEO Raymond Binkowski explained how his organization has grown in 38 years with clients ranging in age from 5 to 97 years old. He has worked with 40 college interns and talked about producing 1,300 videos now on their YouTube site, as well as 300 video podcasts.

He explained the value of physical workouts and how it is better to exercise with someone instead of alone. He compared it to Rotary which he said can accomplish more together as a group. His company promotes two of the largest body building events in the country that attracts 800 to 1,000 spectators.

He has published three books. The two he brought with him are titled "Eat by Color" and "Exercise Galore." He also talked about the foods we eat and said he works with Hy-Vee nutritionist Lisa Brandt to offer programs on diet and nutrition.

Student of the Month: Jake Peloquin

Student of the Month Jake Peloquin was introduced by Steve Balster, along with his parents Greg and Margie Peloquin. Jake talked about a project he initiated at Russell Woods Forest Preserve, building nine birdhouses.

He has a 4.61 GPA, the highest out of his senior class of 314 at Sycamore High.

Kishwaukee Sunrise hosts Drive-Thru Dinner, 25th Anniversary

The Kishwaukee Sunrise Rotary will hold its annual Drive-Thru Dinner on Wednesday, September 21st; it will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Hopkins Park shelter house in DeKalb.

The meal will be provided by Country Store and Catering of Sycamore, offering both their award-winning BBQ chicken and pork chop with each dinner. Tickets are $12 each; contact Becky Beck Ryan at (815) 758-3800 or at diamondgirl4u@frontier.com

Kishwaukee Sunrise will also host its 25th Anniversary Celebration Dinner on Tuesday, October 11th; it will be at Faranda's Banquet Center in DeKalb, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The evening will celebrate the history of the Club, featuring its first president Kirk Reed.

Tickets still available for Make a Difference raffle

Tickets are still available for the Make a Difference DKC raffle, to support the Feed My Starving Children Mobile Pack event in November.

Rotarians are encouraged to sell these tickets between now and November 13th; the grand prize is $10,000 in cash, and Rotary will get back $8 from every $20 ticket sold.

District 6420 urges early Rotary Foundation donations

2016 marks the 100th anniversary of the Rotary Foundation. Our district is having a RF donor dinner in Deer Valley on November 5th and DG Scott Shore has requested all clubs make a special donation to the Foundation at that time.

At the Sycamore Rotary Club board meeting in August it was suggested that Rotarians be asked to consider making their annual donation to the RF before October 1 (if you are planning to give this fiscal year - July 1-June 30). The only alternative was to have a separate fund raising effort for this challenge, which would be difficult on such short notice.

Giving the annual contribution now to the RF would preserve the tax deductibility of your donation.

If you feel you can give your annual contribution before October 1, please make your check out to the Rotary Foundation and give it to Michele Jurkovic, with a note to add your amount to the club contribution.

Pat Shafer nominated for Rotary Board of Directors

Pat Shafer was nominated for a seat on the Sycamore Rotary Club's Board of Directors at the August 10th meeting; he would be taking over for Jude Wilbers, who resigned when he and his family decided to move to Batavia.

In keeping with the Club's bylaws, his name will stand in nomination for 30 days; after that time, the membership will be asked to vote on whether to allow him to serve on the Board.

Pat would retain a place on the board for five years, and he would serve as Club President for the years 2019-2020.
