August 25 Speaker: Kent Grisham
Kent Grisham
President, NE Trucking Association, Inc.

As President and CEO of the Nebraska Trucking Association and Truck Services, Inc., Kent Grisham brings nearly 30 years’ experience in public relations, marketing, public affairs, and organizational development in Nebraska.  Aside from public affairs and media work for Fortune 100 companies, Kent has also led several congressional, gubernatorial, and local political campaigns.

Nearly half of Nebraska’s communities rely on trucks to fill their grocery store shelves and deliver supplies for everyday living. And last year, we all learned very quickly just how important the trucking industry is in helping us feed our families and take care of other basic needs. Read more about Kent, click here.

Join us on Wednesday to learn more how Kent helped the thousands of Nebraska truckers and trucking companies navigate the pandemic so far, and the challenges that still lie ahead.
President's Pen

Rotarians,

This week’s presentation provided our club members with the latest and greatest of what is happening in the world of UNO Hockey. Coach Mike Gabinet, UNO Hockey Coach, gave an awesome and informative update on the program. He is an outstanding ambassador for UNO hockey, a solid role model for the young people he works with, and (I hope) a future Rotarian.  I am glad he was able to take time out of his busy schedule and speak to our club.

A couple of important items to note. As Rotarians, remember there are so many ways to be engaged. Please take time to do one (or all) of the following:

  • Help us get to know each other better by providing Lisa with a few fun facts about yourself. Click Here. We need your information.
  • Sign up for a Service Before Self Project, click here. We need your involvement.
  • If you currently do not give to Rotary International, contribute your $25.00 to help us meet our club goal of having every single member as donors to the Rotary International Foundation fund. Click here to donate . We need your financial support.

In a nutshell…..to continue to be one of the best clubs in Omaha WE NEED YOU!

See you on Wednesday!

Rotary Club of Belize Joins us on Aug 25
Through the efforts of Operation Hippocrates Chair LeRoy Swedlund, Rotarians will join us live from Belize to share about the recent Operation Hippocrates/Gift of Life project. Our club has a decades-long partnership with the Rotary Club of Belize. They will join us at the top of the hour. Don't miss it.

Brush Up Project
The Brush Up Project this past weekend was a success! Big thanks to our volunteers led by Service Above Self Chair Lindy Hoyer, Camille Metoyer-Moten, Bill Harvey and his daughter, and Nash Mahupete and his son.

9/11 Tribute of Flags
The Rotary Club of Omaha announces it will be setting up the 9/11 Tribute of Flags Omaha in Memorial Park once again this year. This tradition was started in our community by Lynn Castrianno as a way to honor her brother, Leonard Castrianno, who was killed in the World Trade Center, and as a way to honor all of the lives lost on this tragic day in US history. This is the 17th consecutive year of the tribute.  Almost 3,000 U.S. flags will make up this display. The attack on September 11, 2001, killed 2,977 people. Each flag bears the name and age of a victim, the location of where they died, and personal information. The flags of those who have a Nebraska connection will be placed in a special section. This year, the setup is on Friday, September 3, from 4:30 to 7:00 PM in Memorial park in front of the large WW II memorial.  Members of the Rotary Club of Omaha will be volunteering to place these flags, joined by Boy Scouts and other members of the community.

For those interested in participating in setting up the flags, please contact Dan Esch at desch402@yahoo.com or (402) 301-9290, or Click here to sign up.
