Greetings Everyone,

Chins up and smiles on everyone, we are sooo close to Spring, just a few more days!!  You know it has been a long winter when an ex-tire guy like myself is sick of the white stuff.  LOL

We had a very moving program this week with Ariel Roblin and Janyne Peek Emsick talking about sexual harassment in the workplace and the #metoo awareness movement.  It was very eye opening to hear Ariel's story and to think about how prevalent this type of behavior is in our country.  It was also very disheartening to hear about the lack of communication even among the victims of these types of crimes and the lack of the conversations that are needed to bring this behavior to light.  We had some great discussion and questions from the audience and we were challenged to keep our eyes open for evidence of situations like this and also to look at our biases in all aspects of our lives and to have the courage to speak up and help fix these problems.

Heather was able to award and congratulate Adam Leong for achieving his Paul Harris Fellowship.  Congratts Adam!!

Please help us, we are we well on our way to reaching our goal of having 100% participation from our club members in giving to Rotary International in any amount by the end of June.

Unfortunately more sad news as we found out recently we lost long time member Terry Forsberg, I believe this is the 5th member we have lost this year.  Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks to everyone for another great meeting.
Have a Great week.
Brad
Rock the Block

Sat, May 18, 2019 - 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM - location in Omaha will be announced closer to the date.

This event is all about bringing communities together and promoting healthy neighborhoods. Months before the event, our staff meets and surveys the existing neighbors in the areas we serve. With your help, we will assist these folks with a variety of tasks, which usually include light repair, clean-up, sanding, painting, staining, and landscaping. At the end of the day, the neighborhood shines a little brighter and new relationships are made. New in 2019 – Rock the block days will end with a small block celebration! Partners are needed to provide food, entertainment, and cleanup assistance. This event allows us to serve more families outside of our core programs. It also allows us greater flexibility with group size and volunteer ages.

Tools and supplies are supplied by Habitat. Volunteers just need to wear closed toed shoes or boots

We will need a total of 10 volunteers with each volunteer needing to sign up with the below link at least 2 weeks prior to May 18th.
