Rotary 8th Grade Honor Roll: 99 Years of Celebrating Omaha’s Young Leaders

For nearly a century, the Rotary Club of Omaha has celebrated the promise of Omaha’s youth through the Rotary 8th Grade Honor Roll. This time-honored tradition recognizes outstanding eighth-grade students who exemplify four enduring qualities: leadership, character, scholarship, and presence. These pillars have guided the Honor Roll since its earliest days and continue to define what it means to be a young person of merit and impact.

The Honor Roll is more than a ceremony; it’s a launchpad. Each year, the program also awards scholarships to selected graduating seniors who, just four years earlier, stood on the same stage as 8th Grade Honor Roll honorees. In doing so, Rotary affirms a simple idea: when communities champion their students, students change their communities.
