One again we had a very informative presentation about the great Human Services work being done in our community.  We had the pleasure of hearing from Deacon Teresa Houser on the Magdalene House which will be opening soon to meet the needs of those who have been trapped in human trafficking and or prostitution.  The house will be based on a very successful model that was developed over twenty years ago.  It is designed to meet the needs of women for mental health services, addiction treatment, safe housing and also employment.  The first residents of the program will help decide what that business will be. The program is a comprehensive program and the success rate at the original facility is over 68% for women being drug free two years after completing the program.

 

A reminder that dues for next year are due. Please send them in or make a pledge to Leigh so we know who to pay dues for to Rotary International.  Next week is the Changing of the Guard and a great opportunity to hear from our Incoming President, Bill Harvey.  This also a great time to re-commit to Rotary and Service Above Self and decide what committees or programs you would like to serve on.
