Greetings Everyone,       (See below for "Bring a guest" Super Bonus Days)

Part of the meeting this week was the celebration of the end of the election season.  Yeah!!  We can all start being nice to each other again, and clean up our yards.  LOL.
Thanks to Heather for some great info on Rotary International and earning your Paul Harris award.

We had a great presentation from Todd Schmaderer our Omaha Chief of Police.  He gave some amazing stats about gang related shootings being down from close to 300 per year 6 years ago when he came in as chief to less than 100 per year now.  He pointed to the strides we have made in law enforcement working together with Federal agencies such as the FBI and DEA to combat the issues from multiple directions as a key component.  He also pointed to the importance of our own work in our neighborhoods and communities being a big factor in solving the issues.   He cited the north Omaha basketball program as on example of cooperating efforts with neighborhoods and police and opening more doors to work together.  We are looking forward to a 5th police precinct in the Elkhorn area to help with response times and localized issues.  Congrats and thanks for serving our city.

We have some great opportunities for social events and service projects coming up so please check the calendar and make the effort to get engaged.  We want to make a difference.

Bring Guests Now To help encourage everyone to bring perspective members, for the next 3 meetings we will cover the lunch cost of any prospective members you bring in as guests.  Plus Super Bonus  the members that bring a guest each week will be in a drawing to give away a $50 a gift card each meeting.

Next week we have Doug Bisson from HDR coming to talk about the River front development, so bring a guest and join in the fun.

Rotary Christmas Social

Join us for a Rotary Christmas party on Thursday, Dec. 6 starting at 5pm.   Kathleen Estes will host a pot luck dinner at her Old Market loft at 1105 Harney, above Jams Restaurant.   Her home is an eclectic mix of historic Old Market and mid-century décor.  It overlooks the riverfront and the ConAgra campus, allowing for beautiful wintertime views.    After dinner we will enjoy a holiday lights tour on Ollie the Trolley.   The Trolley only holds 32 people, so early registration is encouraged.   Dinner is pot luck and BYOB.   You may bring refreshments on the  trolley if you like.

This event is being sponsored by Jena Bailey and Dino’s Storage.
