Greetings Everyone,

We had a great program this week for all the animal lovers in the club.  We heard from Mike West the President of the Omaha Equestrian Foundation talking about the International Horse show coming to Omaha April 4-7th.  The show features over 200 horses competing from all parts of the world.  We got a feel for the behind the scenes work that makes this all possible from having to charter a plane to bring 50 horses in from Europe, to the care for all these exquisite animals.  In fact Mike alluded to the fact that the horses probably eat better and get better care than most of us in the room.  Lol.  We also heard about the philanthropic work of the foundation in education programs that will impact over 4200 youth in our community and region, many of whom have never touched or seen a horse up close.  Thanks Mike and OEF for your outstanding contributions to Omaha.

Congratulations to Okley Gibbs for achieving his Paul Harris +1,  and also thank you for presenting our club with a new visitation flag from the club you visited in Port Isabel TX.  Thanks for your dedication to Rotary!

Thanks to everyone for stepping up your club engagement.  Taylor and her crew brought us another great opportunity to serve in our community at the Ronald McDonald house and all the spots were filled up almost immediately.  I encourage everyone to get engaged earn some bling and help us make a difference in our world!

Our program next week is Todd Sears, President and Publisher of The Omaha World Herald.
I encourage you to bring a prospective member to hear this presentation.

Have a great week.
Brad

Rock the Block

Sat, May 18, 2019 - 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM - location in Omaha will be announced closer to the date.

This event is all about bringing communities together and promoting healthy neighborhoods. Months before the event, our staff meets and surveys the existing neighbors in the areas we serve. With your help, we will assist these folks with a variety of tasks, which usually include light repair, clean-up, sanding, painting, staining, and landscaping. At the end of the day, the neighborhood shines a little brighter and new relationships are made. New in 2019 – Rock the block days will end with a small block celebration! Partners are needed to provide food, entertainment, and cleanup assistance. This event allows us to serve more families outside of our core programs. It also allows us greater flexibility with group size and volunteer ages.

Tools and supplies are supplied by Habitat. Volunteers just need to wear closed toed shoes or boots

We will need a total of 10 volunteers with each volunteer needing to sign up with the below link at least 2 weeks prior to May 18th.

Charitable Statements
The Charitable Statements went out on October 26 via emial.
