Todd R. Schmaderer was appointed the 32nd Chief of Police for the City of Omaha on August 15, 2012.  Chief Schmaderer leads the largest law enforcement agency in the State of Nebraska, which is comprised of 902 sworn officers and 160 non-sworn personnel.  He manages an operating budget of $160 million and serves a population of 460,000 residents within the city limits. Chief Schmaderer will share updates from the OPD.

President's Pen
We’ve adjusted our schedule for a HYBRID TRIAL RUN on April 28th at Field Club (limited seating available) with Chief of Police Todd Schmaderer. Click here to register and for more details.

Please keep our Operation Hippocrates Team in your prayers. Dr. Jeff DeLaney, his team, and Rotarian Leroy Swedlund depart on April 25th for Belize with five days on the ground to provide pediatric cardiology clinics in association with the Rotary Club of Belize. This mission is funded by your Service Fund contributions. If all works well, we may be able to post images from in-country. Godspeed and safe return, Leroy!

If you have a spare hour or more, please consider reaching out to Gary Bren to assist with delivering student packets to Omaha metro schools in the coming days. See details here.

Finally, we owe a special debt of gratitude to former treasurer Jena Bailey, who is raising a young family. Jena spent the better part of two years placing your club’s finances in a stronger position and we could not have done it without her special attention and efforts. She has transitioned the role to Jim Stewart who is our incoming treasurer and has started early (thanks, Jim!).

Over the next few weeks on Wednesdays, we’re looking forward to sharing the progress we have made within the club on several fronts.

See you on Wednesday at Field Club (in person or online) for a timely visit by Omaha Chief of Police Todd Schmaderer.

- John Sullivan

Last Call for Your Support for Honor Roll
Note from Honor Roll Chair PDG Gary Bren:

We can definitely use a few more sponsors, but the deadline to make the program is Monday (4/26).
Here are the details on both requests that I sent out last week:
  • Preparation and delivery of student packets.   Students will receive packets with a bumper sticker, their letter of honor, the program, their certificate, and a pen.  To make that happen, we'll be preparing packets at my house on May 2nd.   We need the assistance of 6-8 volunteers to help with packet preparation.  Food and wine will be generously provided.   Once the packets are ready, we have 58 schools that the packets need to be delivered to between May 3rd and May 10th.  Ideally, we need 14-15 volunteers each willing to deliver to 3-5 schools.  Assistance with this is vital to the success of the event.   You can reach out to me (gbren@brenonline.com, cell: 402.981.8476) or Jim Stewart (jstew1489@yahoo.com) to let us know if you're interested in volunteering.  First come, first served, on school assignments for deliveries.
  • Sponsorships.  This event will be free to attend, but not free to hold.  We could use at least another $2,000 in sponsorship contributions.  I've attached a flyer with sponsorship levels and benefits...but really any contribution would be welcome.  Again, you can reach out to me or Jim Stewart to let us know what you're willing to commit to.
Your assistance on these two items will help us to honor the proud traditions of the last 94 years of this program...and I'm looking forward to you demonstrating how strong the heart of our club is.
Polio Plus Campaign in Leigh's Honor
