We bid goodbye to Leigh Sittenauer on March 31, 2021, after serving the club as Executive Director for a total of eight years. She was hired in 2005 by a committee led by Bruce Frasier, but she left in 2007 to spend more time with her two-year-old son. Leigh came back in 2016, hired by a committee led by John Ewing when her son turned 11 years old. Leigh grew up in Rotary with her Dad Ron Ewasiuk, a Rotarian, for 32 years at the Omaha Morning Rotary. Leigh is a Rotarian herself at the Millard Rotary, and she is Paul Harris Fellow +1. Leigh is joining Bags of Fun Omaha Foundation as the Development & Events Coordinator. Bags of Fun delivers joy, laughter, and relief to children fighting a life-threatening illness. Find out more about Bags of Fun at bagsoffun.org, or click here. We wish Leigh success in her future endeavors. Please send Leigh a thank you note for her service to our club; click here. Thank you, Leigh!
As mentioned previously, your board has approved funding for our Operation Hippocrates mission to Belize in association with Dr. Jeff Delaney and team, Children’s Hospital and Medical Center. Please keep this team and their patients in your thoughts and prayers as we approach the mission travel dates. We’ll do our best to keep you updated. This is extraordinary to mount this mission at this time and with your support through our Service Fund. Thank you! Rotary is answering the call. See Leroy’s message below.
The Operation Hippocrates medical team was unable to travel to Belize in February due to travel restrictions. I am pleased to report the team has received travel approval and is scheduled to travel to Belize on April 25 to conduct five days of clinic. The importance of the trip can not be overstated as we have kids that we examined last year waiting for ultrasound tests before they will be accepted at hospitals in the US and Caribbean for a heart catheterization or open-heart surgery. Clinic procedures this year will be different than in past years, but we are committed to seeing every child that comes to the clinic.
Thank you everyone for your support of this vital, life-saving mission sponsored by Downtown Rotary.

And I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday as Martie Cordaro continues a 50-year streak of Omaha Downtown Rotary hosting our AAA ballclub leader (and now that includes our Union Omaha soccer team as well).
