Although our goal is always to grow the Rotary Club of Broadbeach and encourage people from across the Gold Coast to officially join us, we are very aware that a high proportion of them are unable to make such a commitment at this time. The reasons for this are many and varied and for us this is a real challenge.

It  is a pity because our population is made up of a diversity of people with alternative views, extraordinary talents, amazing interests and backgrounds and a real sense of citizenship and community.  We need their support, talents, expertise, enthusiasm, willingness to serve and their interest in the wellbeing of others.

What can we do?   Establish A  Friends of Broadbeach Rotary  Group
Offical guidlines for the conduct and administration of the group are outlined in the following document

Why establish the Friends of Broadbeach Rotary?
Members of our club have discussed and considered this initiative and we now feel it is time to proceed, because, although we are always encouraging people from  the Gold Coast to officially join our club, many of you are unable to do so for a myriad of reasons. This is a real pity because we believe you would be a great addition to our team. Your high ethical standards, commitment to the community and caring attitudes are very much appreciated and your enthusiasm, interests and wisdom would be invaluable to us.

We hope as a Friend of Broadbeach Rotary you will …
·          enjoy the feeling we all get when we make a difference to the lives of others
·          recognize how Rotary contributes to the health and wellbeing of our community and beyond
·          learn more about Rotary through involvement and most importantly that your experiences and the fellowship that comes with being a member of a group that serves others, will convince you that joining the Rotary Club of Broadbeach is the obvious, next best step for you to take.

The Friends of Broadbeach Rotary will …
·        be made up of Past Rotarians and/or  partners, business people, tradesmen/women, parents, singles, professionals, young adults etc. and they will contribute when and how they can
always be invited to join and will be assigned a club member as a  mentor / sponsor
·        not pay a joining fee or annual dues but may make an annual donation to help cover administration costs of the group
·        attend three meetings a year being either designated normal meetings or designated events of the club (at their own expense - $30.00 for a meal during normal evening meetings) and at other times if desired or required
·        extend and broaden the range of skills, knowledge and areas of expertise of our club and increase the number of volunteers we can call upon to assist with local, national and international Rotary projects (listed Friends will be covered as volunteers by Rotary Insurance)
·        be welcome as guests at all club meetings, including social and fundraising events (at their own expense)
·        be kept informed via the Club web-site and weekly Bulletin
·        be expected to function as an ethical and responsible group even though it is not bound by the By-Laws and Constitution of the Rotary club of Broadbeach
·            develop and implement service and fundraising projects for the club with support and assistance from our members

The Joining Process
All of our current friends and supporters will be formally invited to join this group, and, as our community grows and changes, new friends and supporters who share the same ideals and want to actively contribute to their community will be invited, as well.

Membership Guidelines:
Information from endorsed Application Forms will be used to document a Register of Friends citing their special interests and expertise, and this will be regularly reviewed and updated by them. It will also be used by our club to access advice and assistance from our Friends.

Members of this group will remain members until they indicate a desire to cease membership or the Board sees fit to terminate an individual’s membership due to actions that would damage the integrity and ideals of Rotary.

NB. Friends of Broadbeach Rotary have no voting rights in relation to the conduct or business of the Rotary Club of Broadbeach.

The Friends of Broadbeach Rotary is not a substitute for Rotary Club membership, but an alternative for those who cannot meet the full time responsibilities of being a Rotarian.
