Rotary in Vaughan

Dear friends,

This is an invitation for you to participate in a Go-To meeting on Tuesday May 14th , 2019 from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. to discuss the next step for Rotary in Vaughan. You may recall that earlier in the year, the D7070 Membership Committee arranged a couple of activities in Vaughan - a gathering to discuss ways of promoting Rotary in the fast-growing City of Vaughan (which included a presentation by the City of Vaughan) and a Membership workshop on March 23rd.

Thanks to the kind support by the City of Vaughan’s Economic Development Department, we could hold both meetings at the City Hall. One of the main reasons the District Membership Committee initiated these events in Vaughan is the many Rotary leads we’ve seen from people in Vaughan. It is also felt that there are many opportunities for a service organization like Rotary in an expanding community. This is a key reason for Vaughan’s Economic Development Department showing interest in Rotary and
supporting us. They see Rotary Clubs as an important part of a complete and attractive community.

You are leaders of the Rotary Clubs in and around Vaughan. As such, you are playing an important role in growing Rotary in the area. How can the existing Clubs work together to welcome new members, whether they are Rotary leads from RI or individuals of the community we find? What kind of activities can we do jointly to attract people interested in doing good in their community?

Some potential ideas are: a one-day hands-on project; a town-hall meeting where the public can come and suggest activities in  the community for a service Club; a reception or networking event where the Rotary Clubs in the area present themselves. You  probably have other ideas. 

Your Club(s) may already do some of these things; perhaps by inviting other Clubs, more can be done and we can gain a higher profile for Rotary. Please, give this matter some thought prior to the Go-To Meeting.
