During the 2011 Interota Conference in Hurghada, Egypt, Rotaractors from Districts 7040, 7070, and 7080 launched a bid to host the next Interota in 2014, between Toronto and Montréal. It was a tough competition with 6 other countries competing: Hong Kong, Poland, Ghana, Lebanon, Greece, and Nigeria. During the conference, Canadian delegates promoted the bid by wearing Canadian t-shirts, which were signed by conference delegates from across the globe, they gave out Canadian pins, did a formal bid presentation, and used social media as a key tool to engage the entire Rotaract community. On November 22, 2011, the winning bid was announced and we are proud to say that Canada will be hosting Interota in 2014!

The Interota Organizing Committee has been hard at work developing its vision for the international conference, finding a strong group of Rotaractors to be a part of the organization of this great event, and promoting the conference to the Rotaractors around the world. The committee’s unique vision for the conference places an emphasis on leadership development and personal growth through cultural experiences. At the end of the conference, delegates will come away having developed their leadership skills, learned something about themselves, created new and strong friendships, and experienced a culture different from their own.

Our Interota 2014 Organizing Committee is extremely thankful to Rotarians in Districts 7040 & 7070 for their tremendous support! We look forward to working with each district to ensure that Canada is one of the best hosts Interota has ever had!

Rotaractors in Toronto and Montreal have a history and a future rooted in the organization of international Rotary conferences and conventions. In 2010, Rotarians and Rotaractors in District 7040 had the pleasure of hosting the Rotary International Convention and Rotaract Preconvention. The success of this convention was built on several key factors:

    • Committed Host Hospitality Committees for both Rotary and Rotaract activities ensured delegates in Montreal had the best time possible
    • Teams that worked together over a long period of time (and often over great distances) became very good friends and learned important lessons in teamwork
    • To this day, international Rotaractors still compliment the Rotaract Host Committee on their level of organization, their innovative activity offerings and quick thinking to ensure all Rotaractors could stay together to continue their fellowship during the conventionIn 2018, Rotaractors in Canada will once again have the opportunity to organize an RHC as the Rotary International Convention will once again descend upon Toronto.
