Governor Barney took time from his busy life as a bank executive to lead the District in this year when the Rotary International President was J. Edd McLaughlin from Rails, Texas, U.S.A., and the International Convention was held in Tokyo, Japan.

We have learned from the Union City history book that the Union City Club participated in Governor Barney's year in a District project to erect the Tom Hanson Memorial Cabin at the Bergen County YMCA Camp.

Unfortunately there is no additional data in the District and club history records, however to those that remember the very outgoing and friendly Governor Barney we know it had to be an active Rotary year.
