St. Albert Celebrates the International Day of Peace and recognition as City of Peace

On September 20, the Rotary Club of St. Albert Peace Action Group brought community members and partners together to celebrate the International Day of Peace and St. Albert’s recognition as a City of Peace.

The celebration was an opportunity to mark this meaningful milestone and recognize the many people and organizations working to build peace through connection, understanding and belonging.

The Rotary Club of St. Albert Peace Action Group is honoured to facilitate St. Albert’s City of Peace journey and to continue supporting peacebuilding initiatives and community partnerships.

Building Positive Peace, One Conversation at a Time in St. Albert

This September, about 130 children and youth participated in our Peace Literacy & Art and Youth Peace Leadership programs as we recognized the International Day of Peace.

We explored what peace means in our everyday lives from kindness, inclusion and belonging to safety, connection and positive leadership.

Because peace is not only the absence of conflict and war. It is built every day through the choices we make and the communities we create.

One conversation. One connection. One action at a time.

Thank you to all the teachers who welcomed us and created space for these important conversations, to St. Albert Cultivates the Arts for supporting our Peace Literacy and Art and Peace Leadership and Art programs, and to our Peace Action Group volunteers.
