Program:
Guest Speaker: Derek Kaff, Interim Chief of Police, Woodland Police Department

Restorative justice is where the offender and the victim have the opportunity to come together with a mediator to come to an understanding of where each person is individually.  This program has been occurring in Yolo County for approximately 7 years.  It has been very successful; funding has been received to continue.

Homeless and entering homes, theft: WPD is keeping track of the homeless they encounter and documenting where they come from.  The vast majority (70%) have some ties to Woodland.  Suggestion to meet with Mini Garcia (Crime Prevention Specialist) to work on crime prevention in the neighborhood.

Gun violence: start educating the young about the dangers, seek information from the School District.

Transparency and Communication to the  public: WPD is working with Spider Tech, WPD will send a text message with case number and officer name when you report a crime, COMING SOON!

Next meeting:
August 6th- meeting about membership, there will be PRIZES!
